La La Land is an old fashioned movie musical set in contemporary Los Angeles. It centers on a love story between a jazz pianist and an aspiring actress. The film is written and directed by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), and stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, with music by Justin Hurwitz and lyrics by Benj and Justin.

La La Land opened the Venice film Festival and won People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. The team took home 7 Golden Globe Awards in 2017 including best picture musical/comedy, lead acting honors for Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, and awards for director, screenplay, song and score. “City of Stars”  won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. La La Land also earned 14 nominations for the 89th Academy Awards and won best song for “City of Stars.”
